What is Medicare?

Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people 65 and older, and for some younger people with disabilities. It helps cover hospital stays, doctor visits, prescription drugs, and more.

But Medicare isn’t one single plan — it’s made up of several “parts,” and the right combination depends on your health, your budget, your doctors, and your medications. That’s exactly what a CISA agent helps you sort out, so you’re never guessing.

The building blocks

The parts of Medicare, explained simply

PartA

Hospital Insurance

Covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing care, hospice, and some home health care. Most people get Part A premium-free once they qualify.

PartB

Medical Insurance

Covers doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, and medical equipment. Together, Parts A & B are known as “Original Medicare.”

PartC

Medicare Advantage

An all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare from private carriers — often bundling hospital, medical, and drug coverage, plus extras like dental, vision, and hearing.

PartD

Prescription Drug Coverage

Helps pay for prescription medications. Plans vary by which drugs they cover and their cost — we’ll match your prescriptions to the plan that saves you the most.

PlanSupp

Medicare Supplement (Medigap)

Works alongside Original Medicare to help pay the “gaps” — copays, coinsurance, and deductibles — so you have fewer surprise costs.

How CISA helps

We take the confusion out of choosing.

  • We listen first. Your doctors, medications, budget, and priorities — before we recommend anything.
  • We compare across carriers. Many plans, side by side, to find your best fit and value.
  • We handle enrollment. Paperwork and deadlines, taken care of — in your language.
  • We stay with you. Questions, changes, and a free review every year — for as long as you’re our client.
Your questions

Medicare, answered

When can I enroll in Medicare?

You can first enroll during the seven months around your 65th birthday (three months before, your birthday month, and three months after). After that, the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7) is the main time to join or change a plan.

What’s the difference between Medicare Advantage and a Supplement?

Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Original Medicare with an all-in-one private plan, often with extra benefits. A Supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare to cover out-of-pocket costs. We’ll help you weigh which approach fits you best.

Will my doctors and medications be covered?

That depends on the plan — and it’s exactly what we check for you. Bring your list of doctors and prescriptions, and we’ll match you to plans that cover them at the lowest cost.

Does it cost anything to get help from CISA?

No. Our help is completely free to you, with no obligation. We’re compensated by the carriers when you enroll, so you get expert, unbiased guidance at no cost.
